A new class of Broad-Spectrum,

Non-Antibiotic Antimicrobials

1

Surgical Irrigation

Our lead product is a zinc-chlorite–based surgical irrigant licensed for commercialization with positive FDA feedback. It has demonstrated 800–21,000× greater efficacy than leading antimicrobial irrigants in lab testing and is expected to launch in 2026 following 510(k) clearance.

Wound Dressings

We have developed advanced antimicrobial wound dressings that eliminate biofilms, help prevent infections and support healing in both acute and chronic wounds. These formulations are non-cytotoxic, non-antibiotic, kill even antibiotic resistant organisms, and safe for use on open wounds — a major unmet need in the $8B wound care market.

Wound Packing

Our antimicrobial packing materials target deep and tunneling wounds, including trauma, surgical sites and abscesses. By delivering sustained zinc-chlorite activity, these materials help prevent infection recurrence and biofilm regrowth in hard-to-reach spaces.

Venous Ulcers

AZ Solutions is advancing non-antibiotic treatments for venous stasis ulcers, one of the most difficult chronic wounds to manage. Our compressive dressings aim to replace Unna boots, by reducing bioburden and inflammation while accelerating healing — even in patients with poor perfusion.

5

Diabetic Ulcers

Our diabetic foot ulcer technologies are comprised of flexible CleanZinc-embedded hydrogels which complement standard therapies by combining antimicrobial control with tissue-healing support. Acting as advanced adjuncts to debridement, off-loading, and moisture-balanced dressings, they enhance biofilm eradication and wound closure without reliance on systemic antibiotics. By minimizing biofilm formation and enhancing healing conditions, these dressings aim to reduce need for surgical debridements and amputation risk.

Inhalational Pneumonia Treatment

Our CleanZinc technology is being studied for safe use in respiratory infections. Preclinical and in vitro study data has shown high efficacy and low toxicity in human airway cells, offering a compelling candidate for pneumonia, HAP/VAP, and inhalational therapeutics. Live animal inhalational studies have shown no significant toxic effect on the lungs, their cells or tissues.  This technology has potential to be paradigm-shifting in medicine and public health.

Pin-Site Gasket for External Fixators

This hydrogel “washer” slides over orthopedic pins to provide 7-day sustained CleanZinc™ release at the skin interface, helping prevent pin-site infections and osteomyelitis. It offers an easy-to-use solution for external fixator care in orthopedic trauma.

Antimicrobial Urinary Catheter Lubricant

This single-step CleanZinc™ gel replaces both lubricant and Betadine prep for Foley catheter insertion. Designed to prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), it offers persistent antimicrobial protection without compromising urologic safety.
